Delegation from Press Information Bureau Shimla visits Kabi Tingda BAC
KABI TINGDA, September 15: A 13-member media delegation from the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Shimla, visited the Kabi Tingda Block Administrative Centre (BAC) today as part of their official familiarisation tour of Sikkim.
Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed by the Block Development Officer (BDO) Kabi and the Honourable Ward Panchayat of Tingmo Ward, who presented traditional khadas to the visiting delegates. Key local officials present to felicitate the visit included the Divisional Engineer (Kabi), Assistant Director (PRI), Assistant Engineer (Roads), and Assistant Conservator of Forests (Social Forestry).
During the formal interaction:
Vibrant Villages Programme & History: The Divisional Engineer, Kabi Tingda BAC, Shri Sonam Pintso, delivered a presentation highlighting the implementation and status of development works under the Vibrant Villages Programme, alongside an overview of the rich history of Sikkim.
State Flagship Schemes: The BDO Kabi Tingda briefed the visiting media representatives on the key flagship programs, rural development initiatives, and welfare policies implemented by the Government of Sikkim.
Cultural Exchange: As a gesture of goodwill and camaraderie, the Assistant Director, PIB Shimla, presented a traditional Himachali cap and scarf to the BDO Kabi.
Following the administrative briefing, the delegation visited the historic site of Kabi Lungchok to gain firsthand insight into its deep cultural and historical significance, notably the sacred 13th-century Blood Brotherhood pact signed between the Lepcha and Bhutia communities.
