Two Arrested in ₹15 Lakh Theft Case After Car Window Smashed in Dhanda, Shimla
Shimla: Police have arrested two accused persons in connection with a theft case registered at Police Station West, District Shimla, after a car parked along the roadside above Dhanda was allegedly broken into and valuables worth approximately ₹15 lakh were stolen.
According to the police, FIR No. 192/2026 under Section 305 of the BNS was registered at Police Station West on 20.09.2026 on the basis of a complaint received in connection with the incident.
As per the complaint, the complainant had parked his vehicle along the roadside above Dhanda on 19.09.2026. When he checked the vehicle the following morning, he found that the rear left-door window had been broken. On further inspection, a laptop, mobile phone, hard disk, wristwatch and other belongings, collectively valued at approximately ₹15 lakh, were found missing from the vehicle.
Taking the matter seriously, the police launched an investigation and examined available CCTV footage along with technical evidence to identify the persons involved in the incident. Based on the analysis of the evidence, the police acted swiftly and succeeded in tracing and apprehending the accused.
The first accused, Lekh Raj, aged 38 years, resident of Tehsil Balh, District Mandi, was arrested on 26.09.2026 from near IGMC Shimla.
Further investigation led the police to the second accused, Jodh Singh, aged 29 years, resident of Tehsil Balh, District Mandi, who was arrested on 27.09.2026 from Sundernagar, Mandi.
The police have also taken into possession the vehicle allegedly used in the commission of the offence. The stolen articles have been recovered from the possession of the accused persons, providing a significant breakthrough in the investigation.
Both accused persons are being produced before the Hon’ble Court for further legal proceedings. The investigation into the case is still in progress, and police are continuing to examine all relevant aspects of the incident.
