SJPNL and SUEZ Resume Road Metalling and Restoration Work as Monsoon Rains Recede
Shimla: With the monsoon rains coming to an end, the Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Limited (SJPNL) and SUEZ have resumed road metalling and restoration work on roads affected by pipeline laying under SJPNL’s 24×7 continuous pressurized drinking water supply project in Shimla city.
As part of the restoration drive, SUEZ has started road restoration work in Ambedkar Colony, located in the Lower Dhalli Ward of the capital city. The work aims to restore road stretches that were affected during the laying of water supply pipelines under the project.
According to SJPNL, road restoration activities had been affected due to rainfall during the monsoon season. With weather conditions now becoming favourable, metalling and road restoration work on other affected roads across the city will also be taken up in a phased manner. Priority is being given to roads that were affected due to the ongoing project work.
The suspension of metalling activities during the rainy period had caused some inconvenience to pedestrians as well as vehicle users in several areas. With the rainfall subsiding, restoration work has now been accelerated to improve road conditions and facilitate smoother movement for residents and commuters.
SJPNL has appealed to the residents of Shimla to cooperate with the agencies during the restoration process and exercise caution while passing through areas where construction and road repair work is underway.
The authorities have emphasized that cooperation from the public will help ensure that the road restoration and metalling work is completed smoothly and efficiently, while minimizing inconvenience to residents and commuters.
