Inner Wheel Club of Shimla Organises Interactive ‘Good Touch, Bad Touch’ Awareness Workshop for Preschoolers
Shimla: The Inner Wheel Club of Shimla successfully organised an interactive and sensitive awareness workshop on “Good Touch, Bad Touch” for the preschool students of Euro Gen Next School, Kaithu, today. The initiative was aimed at sensitising young children about personal safety, body boundaries and the importance of understanding safe and unsafe touch in a gentle, age-appropriate and child-friendly manner.
The workshop was conducted by Inner Wheel Club of Shimla President and Professor Dr. Kusha Pandit Chawla, who used child-friendly visual aids, storytelling and engaging activities to make the concept of personal safety easy and understandable for the young participants. Through an interactive approach, the children were encouraged to recognise the difference between a safe and loving touch and a touch that makes them feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
The session focused on creating awareness among children without making them fearful or anxious. Through simple examples and age-appropriate communication, the children were encouraged to understand that they have the right to personal boundaries and that they should speak up whenever they feel uncomfortable.
A key highlight of the workshop was the “No, Go, Tell” rule. The children were taught that if they encounter any uncomfortable or unsafe behaviour, they should firmly say “No”, move away from the situation by following “Go”, and immediately “Tell” a trusted adult, such as a parent, teacher or another responsible person they feel safe with.
Speaking on the initiative, IWC President Dr. Kusha Pandit Chawla said, “At Euro Next Gen, the safety and well-being of our children are our topmost priorities. Safeguarding children starts with awareness. By teaching them about body safety early on in a non-threatening environment, we give them the confidence to protect themselves and speak up without fear.”
She emphasised that creating awareness about personal safety at an early age can help children develop confidence, understand their boundaries and learn the importance of communicating with trusted adults. The workshop also reinforced the message that children should never hesitate to share anything that makes them feel uncomfortable.
The interactive nature of the programme kept the young students engaged throughout the session. The use of storytelling, visual aids and activities helped present a sensitive subject in a simple and positive manner, making it easier for the children to understand and remember the key safety messages.
Member Taranjit Kaur was also present during the workshop. The initiative reflected the Inner Wheel Club of Shimla’s efforts towards promoting awareness, child safety and social responsibility through meaningful community-oriented programmes.
