Essay Writing Competition on ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ Organised at Government Senior Secondary School, Kasholi
Shimla: In accordance with the directions of the Ministry of Power and the Corporate Office, Rampur HPS is organising the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign–2026 from 17 September to 2 October 2026. As part of the campaign, an essay writing competition on the theme “Swachh Bharat Mission” was organised at Government Senior Secondary School, Kasholi, on 24 September 2026.
The competition was organised under the guidance of Er. Vikas Marwah, Project Head, Rampur HPS, and in the presence of Er. Birendra Pratap Singh, Head of Department, Procurement & Contracts, Rampur HPS, Baily. A total of 40 students from Classes XI and XII enthusiastically participated in the competition and expressed their thoughts and creativity on the importance of cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
In the competition, Kumari Ridhima of Class XII secured the first position, Kumari Yamuna secured the second position, while Kumari Sameeksha secured the third position. Mridul and Radhika were awarded consolation prizes for their noteworthy participation.
Speaking on the occasion, Project Head Er. Vikas Marwah said that the primary objective of organising the competition was to develop a sense of awareness, responsibility and public participation towards cleanliness among students and participants. He emphasised that such activities provide an effective platform for sensitising the younger generation about the importance of maintaining cleanliness and contributing towards a healthier and cleaner society.
Through the competition, efforts were made to enhance awareness among students regarding the importance of cleanliness, solid waste management, proper segregation of waste, environmental protection and discouraging the use of single-use plastic. The initiative also aimed to encourage students to adopt responsible practices in their daily lives and understand the role that every individual can play in protecting the environment.
Er. Vikas Marwah further stated that the competition was also aimed at encouraging the creative thinking and writing skills of students, while motivating them to make cleanliness an integral part of their everyday lives. He encouraged the students to actively contribute towards building a clean, healthy and environmentally responsible society.
He further highlighted that initiatives under the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign strengthen the spirit of cleanliness and help carry the message of cleanliness beyond educational institutions to families and communities. Such programmes, he said, play an important role in promoting collective public participation and creating greater awareness about cleanliness, responsible waste management and environmental conservation.
The essay writing competition thus served as an important platform for engaging students in the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign and reinforcing the message that cleanliness is not merely an individual responsibility but a collective commitment towards creating a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable society.
