Himachal Pradesh Has Lost an Experienced and Dedicated Leader in Nand Lal: Kuldeep Singh Pathania
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Nand Lal, MLA from Rampur, who had been unwell for a prolonged period. In his condolence message, the Speaker described Nand Lal as a prominent and experienced leader who had carved out a distinct identity in the politics of Himachal Pradesh.
Pathania said that Nand Lal was first elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Rampur constituency in 2007 and went on to serve as an MLA for four terms. Late Nand Lal also served as the Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) in 2013. During his tenure, he held several important responsibilities in various Assembly committees. He was a member of the Committee on Subordinate Legislation and the Committee of Privileges. From 2018 to 2022, he served as a member of the Welfare Committee and the Rural Planning Committee. After being elected for the fourth time in December 2022, he was appointed Chairman of the Assembly's Welfare Committee. In March 2024, he was appointed Chairman of the Seventh State Finance Commission of the state government and was also accorded the status of a Cabinet Minister.
The Speaker said that Nand Lal had maintained a strong political influence in the Rampur Assembly constituency for a long time. His journey, which began with service in the security forces and progressed to the Legislative Assembly and the State Finance Commission, gave him a distinct identity in the state's political landscape. He was always willing to extend assistance to the poor and underprivileged. Maintaining a balance between politics, administration and social service was one of his distinctive qualities.
Pathania said that Himachal Pradesh had lost a promising, experienced and dedicated leader in Nand Lal, and that the void created by his demise would be impossible to fill. He prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
