Sangrur administration develops Covid-19 mobile testing pod for risk free sample collection: Deputy Commissioner

Besides installing mobile testing pods in hospitals, will also be used for sample collection from different locations: Ghanshyam Thori

Sangrur- District sangrur administration has always been first to take initiative to fight contagious COVID-19 disease and now testing pod has been developed to make sample collection risk free. While divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Mr. Ghanshyam Thori said that the model will ensure safety of health personnel who will take sample of the suspected patients. He added that these pods would be installed at civil hospitals and other required places in the district. DC said that one testing pod would cost around 25 to 30 thousand Rupees. He further added that innovation cell has been established at district headquarter under the supervision of District revenue officer to review and appreciate all working models to fight this disease. 

Deputy Commissioner said that the use to these testing pods will also reduce the in demand PPE kits, gloves, masks etc. being used for sample collection as the patient will not be exposed directly to the medical staff. He said that best global practices will be followed in this testing pod as disposable gloves will be used over plastic gloves which will be disposed off after taking every sample. Further, Sodium Hypochlorite spray will be used for disinfection of plastic gloves to prevent spread of this disease. He said that this pod could also be mounted on a vehicle and can be moved to any location for taking samples. He added that the simple design of this pod will not create any panic in the community and the sample collection would become easier as compared to traditional methods.

"It is time when safety of medical staff is on our utmost priority and besides restricting direct contact, it would also reduce the manpower required for sampling during an epidemic," Ghanshyam Thori said.

DC said that social distancing has emerged effective way to prevent spread of coronavirus in the community and while testing with these pods, social distancing will be strictly followed.
