Newly Appointed Women Congress Office-Bearers Meet Deepak Sharma; Emphasis on Strengthening the Organisation at the Booth Level
Mandi: Newly appointed office-bearers of the District Women Congress Committee, Mandi, from the Sadar Assembly Constituency—Mrs. Geetanjali Sharma, Vice President; Mrs. Narbada Mohan, Vice President; and Mrs. Rajni Chandra, Block President (Urban)—paid a courtesy visit to Shri Deepak Sharma, General Secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee.
During the meeting, Shri Deepak Sharma congratulated all three newly appointed office-bearers and extended his best wishes for their new responsibilities. He said that women's strength is one of the strongest foundations of the Congress organisation and emphasised that no political organisation can become effective and strong at the grassroots level without the active participation of women.
He said that with the new responsibilities, the priority should be to strengthen the organisation up to the booth level, connect more and more women with the party, effectively raise public issues and take the ideology and welfare-oriented policies of the Congress to every household.
Shri Deepak Sharma said that the Himachal Pradesh Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has undertaken several welfare-oriented initiatives with women at the centre of its policies. He said the government is making efforts to empower women socially and economically, provide them with dignified opportunities and enable them to move forward towards self-reliance.
He said that the office-bearers of the Women Congress have an important responsibility to take the welfare-oriented policies and women empowerment initiatives of the government to the people and create awareness among eligible women so that they can avail themselves of the benefits of these schemes.
Shri Deepak Sharma further said that the real strength of the Congress organisation lies in its workers and that an organisation becomes stronger only when its workers remain continuously active among the people. He called upon the newly appointed office-bearers to maintain regular dialogue with women, bring them into the mainstream of the organisation and work towards developing active women leadership at every level.
He said that the Women Congress is not merely an organisational unit but an important link for taking the message of the Congress ideology and public service to families and every section of society. Therefore, women workers must play a leading role in organisational expansion and public outreach campaigns.
The newly appointed office-bearers also expressed their commitment to further strengthening the organisation and playing an active role in party activities. They said they would discharge their responsibilities with complete dedication and sincerity and make every possible effort to provide new energy and momentum to the organisation.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were also held on organisational expansion, strengthening the activities of the Women Congress, upcoming programmes, greater participation of women workers and further strengthening the Congress organisation at the grassroots level.
Shri Deepak Sharma said, “A new responsibility is not merely a position; it is a new accountability towards the organisation and the people. We must work together with this spirit to further strengthen the Congress organisation and ensure that the welfare-oriented policies of the government reach the last person in society.”
