Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, ahead of the conclusion of his foreign tour, visited the Indian Embassy in Oslo, the capital of Norway, on Thursday evening. He was warmly received by Ananya Agrawal, Head of the Indian Embassy and a 2013-batch IFS officer. She welcomed the Assembly Speaker with a bouquet and extended a warm reception on behalf of the Embassy.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on a wide range of diplomatic, social and economic issues, as well as the bilateral relations between India and Norway. The discussions also focused on the growing friendship between the two countries and the potential areas of cooperation with Himachal Pradesh.

Important areas including education, tourism, green energy, sustainable development and exchange of parliamentary practices were discussed in detail. The meeting provided an opportunity to explore the possibilities of strengthening cooperation in sectors that can contribute to mutual development and greater people-to-people engagement between India, Norway and Himachal Pradesh.

Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania expressed his gratitude to Embassy Head Ananya Agrawal for her warm hospitality and cordial reception. He appreciated the efforts being made by the Indian Embassy towards strengthening India-Norway relations and supporting the Indian community in Norway. He also extended an invitation to Ananya Agrawal to visit Himachal Pradesh.

During the interaction, discussions were also held on Himachali traditional products, including the Himachali cap and shawl, as well as other products representing the rich cultural heritage of the state. The Assembly Speaker highlighted the growing tourism potential of Himachal Pradesh and emphasized the immense possibilities for promoting the state as an important destination for international visitors.

Pathania also held detailed discussions with the officials of the Embassy regarding the religious and cultural tourism potential of Himachal Pradesh. He urged that the state's rich religious traditions, cultural heritage and tourism destinations should be promoted and publicized abroad through Indian Embassies, so that more people around the world can become familiar with the unique cultural and spiritual identity of Himachal Pradesh.

The Assembly Speaker said that Himachal Pradesh has significant potential for cooperation in areas such as tourism, education, green energy and sustainable development. He emphasized that stronger India-Norway relations can also open up new avenues of cooperation and opportunities for states such as Himachal Pradesh.

Assembly Speaker Pays Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

On the occasion, Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania also paid an emotional tribute to Mahatma Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi on his 157th birth anniversary. He said that although Mahatma Gandhi is no longer physically present among us, his noble thoughts, higher ideals, knowledge and moral values continue to inspire people across the world.

Pathania said that the thoughts and principles of Mahatma Gandhi remain exemplary for the entire world even today. The life of Mahatma Gandhi was a living example of the principles of truth and non-violence. His message of peace, truth, non-violence and human dignity continues to hold relevance in the contemporary world.

He said that the global significance of Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy is also reflected in the fact that the United Nations observes this day as the International Day of Non-Violence at the global level. This, he said, demonstrates that the ideals and teachings of Bapu continue to serve as a guiding force for global peace, non-violence and human dignity.

Pathania said that amid contemporary global challenges, the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi remind humanity that true strength lies in moral truth, peaceful coexistence and non-violence. He said that Gandhi's ideals and principles would continue to inspire future generations to follow the path of truth, peace, humanity and peaceful coexistence.
