Shimla Municipal Corporation FCPC Meeting Takes Major Decisions, ₹2 Crore Arrears for Pensioners and Group-D Employees
Shimla: Several important decisions concerning the development of Shimla city, pending payments to Municipal Corporation employees and pensioners, parking facilities, public amenities and the growing issue of stray dogs were taken during the meeting of the Finance, Contract and Planning Committee (FCPC) of the Shimla Municipal Corporation. The meeting was chaired by Mayor Surender Chauhan.
One of the key decisions taken during the meeting was to release around ₹2 crore towards the pending arrears of pensioners and Group-D employees of the Municipal Corporation. The decision is expected to provide significant relief to employees and pensioners who have been waiting for their long-pending payments. The release of the arrears marks an important step towards addressing the outstanding financial dues of the Corporation’s employees and pensioners.
The committee also discussed the construction of a Sarai Bhawan. In another decision aimed at strengthening public amenities, it was decided to construct a public toilet at Mashobra. The facility is expected to benefit local residents as well as tourists and other visitors travelling to Mashobra, providing them with improved and accessible public sanitation facilities.
The FCPC also took an important decision regarding four parking facilities in Shimla city. As per the decision, 50 per cent of the parking spaces will be reserved for local residents. The facility for local people will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. For the remaining 50 per cent of the parking space, the Municipal Corporation will adopt a tendering process. The decision is aimed at providing greater parking access to local residents while also ensuring an organised system for the remaining parking capacity.
The growing problem of stray dogs in Shimla city also came up for detailed discussion during the meeting. The committee decided to spend around ₹70 lakh for the construction of dog huts at Tutikandi. The initiative is intended to provide safe shelter for stray dogs and facilitate better management of the stray dog population in the city.
In addition, the Shimla Municipal Corporation will launch a special vaccination and sterilisation campaign for stray dogs from October 3. Under the campaign, stray dogs across the city will be vaccinated and sterilised. The initiative is aimed at helping control the stray dog population and preventing the spread of diseases such as rabies.
Mayor Surender Chauhan said that several significant decisions related to the development of Shimla city and the welfare of Municipal Corporation employees had been taken during the FCPC meeting. He said that the priority of the Municipal Corporation is to provide better facilities to the people of Shimla while also accelerating pending development works and addressing other important issues concerning the city.
The decisions taken in the meeting cover key areas directly linked with civic services, employee welfare, parking management, public amenities and stray-dog management, reflecting the Municipal Corporation’s focus on addressing pending issues and improving facilities for residents and visitors in Shimla.
