1st Cabinet Meeting At Darjeeling

On 8th June, the first Cabinet Meeting of the government was held at the Raj Bhawan in Darjeeling. Chief Minister along with the cabinet members met at the Banquet Hall in the Raj Bhawan at 2pm. She said "Today is a historic day as we held our cabinet meeting in the hills after three decades. We have also taken important decision for the hills. Our government is trying to do everything to develop this area because we love Darjeeling". Talking about the mini-secretariat, she said it was to honour the legendary mountaineer. "When we take Tenzing Norgay's name we feel honoured. We have taken an important decision today to establish a mini-secretariat in Tenzing Norgay's name in Darjeeling. It will come up near the Circuit House on PWD land and work will startwithin six months. We will hold our next cabinet meeting when it is constructed," She also announced eight new buses that will ply between Darjeeling  and Mirik and said Mirik will get a polytechnic college at a cost of Rs.27 crore and a skill development center would also be set-up to provide training and jobs to unemployed youths of the region.
